Echos du Palet: France and Canada share the ice with a young

Every Thursday Glacenews offers a new appointment: Echos du Palet . Where he will discuss hockey, of course, approached from various angles, with the social, economic, psychological, sports, etc..

now back with Gerald Guennelon, national technical director, on trade between the French federation Ice Hockey and Hockey Canada. Or how inspired recipes that can also operate ...

Guillemette Flamein: in what context your trip enrolled in Anjou, on 21 January, during which your delegation met with members of Hockey Quebec, mandated by Hockey Canada?

Gerald Guennelon : when I got to the national technical direction within the federation, I started digging opportunities for trade with Canada on the expertise of coaches. A formal agreement was signed. Hockey Quebec was mandated by Hockey Canada. Hockey Canada officials came to France. Alongside the theme of ice hockey, I've uncovered their expertise in other sports like tennis French.

GF: What have you been looking at Canada, which could be useful in French hockey?

GG: we went to Quebec to discuss with our counterparts in the long term development of youth and how they detect in order to build a national team. These exchanges have been fruitful. they allowed us to consolidate our positions in some areas and collect various items to send to coaches of French clubs.

GF: What concrete evidence do you gain from these exchanges?

G. G . For example, how to adapt and develop training based on age youth. We wanted to know if they had égalemetn an evaluation grid, observable criteria for detecting a kid who has potential. We also wanted to know what qualities they sought in young compared to the requirement high level.

GF: hockey is Canada's national sport, like football in France. Both countries have a different culture of hockey. What are they distant or otherwise, rather close?

GG: In Canada, everyone is likely to be a hockey coach as the French at home with football ... On these crops you mention, they have a lot of similarities. A French boy at a certain age, a level which is not far from that of a Canadian in the same age. But then there is a step in the development of the young that have not yet mastered.

Canada has such a reservoir of young people who are good will always find clubs that will ensure their development. Ra ra by us, Canadians are very strong on the notion of commitment and intensity in training. There is very little downtime.

GF: the best young French people are often seduced by training abroad. How is it beneficial for them?

GG: The French football federation has issued statistics on the past 20 years demonstrating the negative effect of migration of young people too early players. Indeed, it was found no success for young people under 16 who have left their original club to join a training center beyond a radius of 100 kilometers.

Our goal is to Isaiah through our ground truth for training clubs provide a more efficient so they can further improve the quality of training of their players. This will be the goal of the path of excellence that we are going to follow up with an accompaniment of clubs applying for this device.
